Our Trademarks

If you want to use an NC State trademark but are not sure where to start, you have come to the right place.

NC State University owns and controls its name and other trademarks, logos, insignias, seal, designs and symbols that have become associated with the university (collectively known as “marks”).

NC State’s Board of Trustees has established the trademark licensing program to protect the university’s marks, control the quality of products with the marks and to prohibit the unauthorized use of university marks on commercial and non-commercial products.

Net revenues from trademark licensing royalties are used to fund scholarships and student support activities.Comprehensive language on the rule that governs trademark licensing can be located in RUL 01.25.01 – NC State Brand Use and Protection.
