Internal vs. External Licenses
NC State licenses both Internal Campus Suppliers and External Licensees.
Licensees and university purchasers of officially-licensed internal campus supplies, please note that, in most cases, licensees contracted and approved as internal campus suppliers hold internal licenses only. Internal licenses allow for a licensee to produce products bearing the trademarks of collegiate institutions for university departments and related entities for internal consumption only. Licensees cannot provide the product at retail or direct to consumers through an internal license.
Please refer to the Quick Reference Guide for more information about license types provided by our licensing agent, CLC. Additionally, by POL 07.10.01 – Students Supply Stores Policy, the university bookstore (Wolfpack Outfitters) is the only authorized campus department permitted to sell licensed apparel and souvenirs on the campus of NC State and at university events. As such, no NC State college, unit, department or program should contract with a licensee or other vendor for retail sale of licensed merchandise without the consent of Campus Enterprises and the Office of Strategic Brand Management.
